Kasagi Sight-Seeing Navigation No.22(Explanation Of Hiking Courses)

◇Kyu-Iga-Kaido (Old Road To Iga) Course◇

<one way: 2km, 40minutes>

   As its name implies, this course was once a main route to Iga Town.  Though the road is paved, you have to cross one mountain peak, whose slope is rather tough.

   At its peak, you will see a Buddhist Jizo Stone Statue, which is believed to have been protecting passers-by from any trouble.  Even now local people bow to this statue with respect when passing by it.  They also believe that this Jizo has power to give babies to a couple with no children.

   At the end of this course, you see a huge stump.  Years ago a magnificient cedar tree was struck by lightning.  Though it was cut down, its stump has been deified as a holy object.
